*The OED part isn’t quite right. I did disagree–and was correct–but my professor at the time, John Considine, who was once an editor, told me to check the 3rd (not yet finished or printed) edition in which it was corrected–which I didn’t know you could do using an advanced online search. I was just a wee undergrad.
